Feb. 28 6:30 P.M. and March 1 2:00 P.M. Woodford County Historical Society and JJH—CELEBRATE BLACK HISTORY
—The Woodford County Historical Society and the Jack Jouett House jointly present a fascinating examination of African-American history in Kentucky. Join us at the Historical Society’s museum at 121 Rose Hill Ave. in Versailles on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 6:30 P.M. for a presentation on African-American soldiers in the Civil War. Then visit the Jack Jouett House on Saturday, March 1 at 2:00 P.M. for a special tour that will highlight the role of slaves \on an early Kentucky farm.

April 1—SEASON BEGINS—Open April 1-Oct. 31, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday 1-5 P.M. and by appointment.

April 15 7:00 P.M. Woodford County Library—AN EVENING WITH SILAS HOUSE—The Jack Jouett House and the Woodford County Library present Kentucky writer Silas House, author of several bestselling novels (Clay’s Quilt, A Parchment of Leaves, and The Coal Tattoo), writer of the acclaimed play The Hurting Part, and winner of numerous awards, including Kentucky Book of the Year and Appalachian Book of the Year. Join us at the library on 115 N. Main St. as he discusses his unforgettable writing.

May 17 2:00 P.M. JJH—BRICKS AND STONES: The History and Architecture of the Jack Jouett House—Join us as we celebrate Historic Preservation Week and learn about one of the most well-preserved Federal-style homes in Kentucky. This event features an inside look at how the home was restored to its original appearance and a special reception inside our new Visitor Center building.

June 7-8 JJH—JACK JOUETT PATRIOT DAYS—Visit the Jack Jouett House Historic Site for a special weekend of living history as reenactors bring to life the Revolutionary era. Soldiers and frontiersmen will demonstrate eighteenth-century customs and weaponry, and the event will also feature traditional crafts and patriotic music.

July 4 JJH—A COUNTRY 40 MILES: Jack Jouett’s Ride—Recreate Jack’s famous ride to warn Thomas Jefferson and the Virginia legislature on a special bike ride and picnic in conjunction with the Bluegrass Cycling Club. Reservations Required—Call Joyce Fogleman, 859-873-6219.

August 9 1:00 P.M. JJH—KIDS’ HISTORY DAY—Before the school year starts, celebrate the end of summer with a day of children’s activities at the Jack Jouett House, featuring games, food, and hands-on learning. Get an up-close look at the lives of boys and girls during the Revolutionary War.

Oct. 18 2:00 P.M. JJH—LAST KNOWN ADDRESS—Enjoy a special tour of the Jouett House as you learn the stories the people who have lived here. Witness early American funeral customs firsthand and discover the origins of modern-day mourning traditions.

Oct. 31—SEASON ENDS—Our regular touring season ends in October, but special tours are still available. Call the Jouett House to schedule a visit!

Dec. 13 2:00 P.M. JJH—FRONTIER CHRISTMAS: A Jouett Family Holiday Celebration—Visit the Jouett House to experience an early American Christmas. See our beautifully-restored Federal home authentically decorated, and learn how families on the Kentucky frontier celebrated the holidays.
